Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak

$1,697.00

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is a full drop-stitch, ultra-rigid sit-on-top that tracks beautifully in wind. Stable, spacious and propeller-ready — perfect for dogs, kids, fishing and long adventures.

Description

Fast. Rigid. Tracks Like a Hard Shell.

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak is a full drop-stitch kayak designed for paddlers who want hard-shell performance without the hard-shell weight.

All chambers — floor and sides — inflate to high pressure, giving you outstanding rigidity. There’s no bending or buckling under load. At just 15.2kg (including seat and foot pegs), it slices through the water beautifully while remaining manageable to transport.

It feels solid, predictable and confidence inspiring.

Exceptional Tracking – Even in Wind

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak features unique drop-stitch keels at both the bow and stern. Unlike shallow plastic keels found on some inflatable kayaks, these keels extend down into the water, dramatically improving tracking.

Even without the removable fin, the Odyssey holds its line extremely well. The centre of gravity is positioned forward so the bow keel stays in the water — especially helpful in windy conditions.

Huge Internal Space – Built for Big Adventures

At 3.6 metres long and 75cm wide, the Odyssey Solo is luxuriously spacious.

You get:

  • 50cm internal width

  • 180kg total capacity

  • Excellent weight distribution

  • Open deck storage along the full length

It comfortably suits:

  • Tall paddlers

  • Larger paddlers

  • Dogs

  • Small children

  • Multi-day gear loads

Open Deck – No Claustrophobic Feeling

The Odyssey Solo and the Odyssey Tandem Inflatable Kayak is a sit-on-top inflatable with a wide-open cockpit. This makes it ideal for:

  • Dogs

  • Kids

  • Fishing

  • Paddlers who dislike enclosed decks

The side chambers help reduce splash, but in rough conditions you may get paddle drips inside.

Stable Once You’re In

Most full drop-stitch kayaks feel narrow and tippy. The Odyssey is intentionally wider for improved stability.

It is very stable for paddling, fishing, dogs and kids.

However, because of the high side walls, it is slightly harder to get in and out of compared to the Quest Solo.

Comfort That Supports Your Back

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak includes:

  • Adjustable foot pegs

  • High-backed cushioned seat

  • Elevated D-ring positioning for lumbar support

  • Removable 5cm foam base cushion

Sitting higher improves paddling motion.
Removing the cushion improves stability.

Your choice.

Quality You Can Trust

Every Jaspara Kayak is individually inflated and tested for seven days before packing to ensure zero leaks and flawless construction. Materials are top-grade, and every handle, D-ring, and foot peg is placed for comfort and balance — giving you a premium paddling experience that lasts season after season.

⚡ Propeller Compatible – Zoom Zoom

The Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak includes a removable slide-and-lock fin for enhanced tracking. Add the fin when you want ultimate straight-line performance in wind or longer touring sessions.

But here’s the real advantage: The fin box is already motor-ready.

You can remove the fin and attach a fin-mounted electric motor — turning your Odyssey into a compact, ultra-efficient electric touring machine.

The Odyssey does not have a rudder — and it doesn’t need one. It’s extremely easy to steer with your paddle, even when using a motor.

Who this kayak is NOT for

This kayak may not be the best match if:

  • You want something ultra-lightweight for easy solo carrying
  • You want the easiest possible entry/exit (higher side walls = less “flop-in”)
  • You want built-in fishing rod holders and fishing-specific rigging
  • You paddle in conditions where you need a spray skirt (cold/rough open water)
  • You need a self-bailing kayak for activities that bring water onboard
Alternatives:
• Want lighter? Consider the Quest Solo.
• Want a spray skirt option? Explore AdvancedFrame sit-in kayaks.
• Want serious fishing features? Check Quest Angler.
Practical Tip: Because this kayak inflates to higher pressure, an electric pump makes setup dramatically easier. If you want, tell us your paddling style and we’ll recommend a pump that matches your needs.

❓FAQs

Fit & Suitability

Who is the Odyssey Solo Inflatable Kayak best for?
The Odyssey Solo is ideal for paddlers who want hard-shell-like rigidity in an inflatable, plus extra room for long legs, dogs, kids or gear. It’s a great choice for lakes, bays, rivers up to Class II, and general touring.
Who is the Odyssey Solo NOT for?
If you want a super lightweight inflatable, or an inflatable that’s ultra-easy to step in and out of, you may prefer the Quest Solo. If you paddle in cold/rough conditions and want a spray skirt, consider a sit-in option like AdvancedFrame models.
Is the Odyssey Solo suitable for beginners?
Yes. It’s stable once you’re seated and tracks very well. Just note: the higher side walls can make getting in/out slightly trickier than lower-profile kayaks—especially at the ramp or beach.
I’m tall—will I fit comfortably?
Yes. The Odyssey has a long internal layout. You can adjust the seat straps and foot pegs to suit taller paddlers. It’s a strong option if you often feel cramped in smaller inflatables.

Performance & Handling

How fast is the Odyssey Solo?
Very fast for an inflatable. Full drop-stitch rigidity helps the hull slice cleanly through the water, reducing “banana flex” and improving glide.
Does the Odyssey track straight?
Yes. The Odyssey uses drop-stitch keels at the bow and stern to keep the kayak tracking in a straight line—even without relying heavily on the fin.
Is the Odyssey affected by wind?
Like all kayaks, yes—but directionally it performs well thanks to the keels. The side walls sit higher above the waterline than low-profile touring inflatables, so you may still feel some sideways push in strong winds.
Does it need the fin to track well?
Not always. The hull and keel design gives strong tracking. The fin is useful for extra “lock-in” when you want maximum straight-line tracking or when wind/current are stronger.

Stability, Dogs & Kids

How stable is the Odyssey Solo?
Very stable once you’re seated. The Odyssey is wider than many full drop-stitch kayaks, which is why it suits dogs, kids and fishing better than narrower “race style” inflatables.
Can I take a dog in the Odyssey Solo?
Yes. The open deck and roomy layout make it a strong “dog kayak”. The floor material is durable, and the kayak is stable enough to handle the usual dog wiggles (within reason).
Can I take small kids in the Odyssey Solo?
Yes. It’s spacious and stable, with a wide-open cockpit that makes it easier to manage kids and gear. Always use correctly fitted PFDs and stay in suitable conditions.
Is it easy to get in and out of?
It’s stable, but the higher side chambers can make entry/exit slightly less “flop-in friendly” than lower-profile kayaks like the Quest Solo. Once seated, it feels secure and stable.

Comfort & Support

What kind of back support does it have?
The included seat is high-backed and supportive. The D-ring placement helps create strong strap angles for better lumbar support compared to many generic inflatable seats.
Do foot pegs really make a difference?
Yes. Bracing your feet improves paddling technique, increases comfort, and reduces strain on the lower back—especially on longer trips.
Can I adjust the seat position?
Yes. The strap system allows adjustments to help you fine-tune comfort and leg room. It’s especially useful for tall paddlers or paddlers carrying extra gear.
What’s the deal with the removable seat cushion?
Sitting higher can improve paddling motion and comfort. Removing the cushion lowers your centre of gravity, which can increase stability—great if you’re fishing or paddling with a dog.

Fishing & Accessories

Can I fish from the Odyssey Solo?
Yes. It’s stable and durable. You can add fishing accessories like a Railblaza StarPort using an adhesive mount (sold separately) for rod holders and gear mounting.
Does it have built-in rod holders?
No. If you want a fishing kayak with dedicated fishing features already installed, check out the Quest Angler or purpose-built inflatable fishing models.
Can I add an anchor setup?
Yes. A simple anchor system can be added for fishing or holding position. Ask us and we’ll recommend an anchor option that suits your local conditions.
Is it suitable for “serious” fishing?
It’s totally fishable—but if fishing is your main use (rod holders, electronics, dedicated rigging), you’ll likely prefer a fishing-specific model that’s already configured.

Motor / Propeller Compatibility

Can I run a fin-mounted propeller motor on the Odyssey?
Yes. The fin box is designed to accept a fin-style propeller setup (motor sold separately). The kayak is stable enough to use it, and steering is managed with your paddle.
Does it have a rudder?
No—there’s no rudder. Tracking is handled by hull design and keels, and you steer with paddle technique.

Setup, Care & Durability

How long does setup take?
Typically around 6–7 minutes, depending on pump type and your routine. Because it inflates to higher pressure, an electric pump is strongly recommended for convenience.
How durable is the Odyssey Solo?
Very durable. The materials are designed for real use, and each kayak is quality-checked before packing. Like all inflatables, avoid dragging over rocks and rinse after saltwater use.
What should I do after saltwater use?
Rinse with fresh water, especially around valves and fittings. Dry it properly before packing long-term to reduce odour and extend fabric life.
What’s the warranty and where does it ship from?
Warranty is 3 years. It’s stored in our Brisbane warehouse and typically ships within 1–10 business days depending on order flow and courier schedules.
