Viking hatch gasket 150mm replacement
This replacement foam sealing gasket for Viking’s 150 mm bayonet-style hatch includes
the pre-cut gasket ring plus a full set of marine grade stainless screws for refit.
Ideal if your lid still closes but the hatch is starting to drip saltwater into the hull.
Perfect for routine maintenance on older Viking kayaks:
swapping the gasket and screws helps restore waterproof seal without having to replace the whole

After seasons of sun, heat, sand and salt, the foam can compress, crack, or go flat.
When that happens, the hatch is no longer sealing tight – so water can slowly creep into the hull.
Fresh gasket + fresh screws = dry gear, happy kayak.

❓FAQs
Do I really need to replace the gasket if my hatch still “looks fine”?
Yes, most of the wear happens where you can’t see it. On older kayaks the original gasket inside the hatch base
is often crushed or partially missing. That means your kayak can take on water in rough chop or during re-entry.
If you paddle offshore, fish, or store electronics in the hull, this is cheap insurance.
How do I know it’s time?
Classic signs are: moisture or salt crystals inside the hull, rusty tackle boxes under the seat,
or that “hiss” feeling going away. A healthy Viking hatch is almost air-tight — when you sit in the kayak and pop the hatch,
you normally feel/hear a little pressure release. If you’ve stopped getting that satisfying whoosh of trapped air,
your seal is probably tired.
